1. Remove the tick: Use tweezers or a tick-removal tool to grab the tick as close to the skin as possible and then pull the tick straight out. Do not twist or jerk the tick, as this may cause the mouth parts to remain in the skin.
2. Clean the bite area: Thoroughly clean the bite area and your hands with soap and warm water or rubbing alcohol.
3. Monitor the bite: Monitor the bite area for any signs of infection, such as redness, swelling, or warmth. If any of these signs occur, seek medical attention.
4. Dispose of the tick: Place the tick in rubbing alcohol to kill it, and then dispose of it in a sealed bag or container.
5. Consider seeing a doctor: If you develop a rash or fever within several weeks of removing a tick, see your doctor. Be sure to tell the doctor about your recent tick bite, when the bite occurred, and where you most likely acquired the tick.
