The Western Ghats region of India, particularly the states of Kerala and Karnataka, experiences heavy rainfall during the monsoon season. The southwest monsoon, which usually arrives in June and lasts until September, brings intense and consistent rainfall to these areas. The Malabar Coast, including cities like Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, and parts of Karnataka, receive some of the highest rainfall in the country during this period.Additionally, the northeastern states of India, such as Meghalaya and Assam, also witness heavy rainfall during the monsoon season. Places like Cherrapunji and Mawsynram in Meghalaya are known for being among the wettest places on Earth due to their extremely high annual rainfall. The Himalayan foothills, including parts of West Bengal and Sikkim, also experience substantial rainfall during the monsoon.
