In the United Kingdom, the same object is referred to as a "tap". A faucet and a tap are the same thing, and both refer to a device that controls the flow of water from a plumbing system.

IN THE UK THE TERM USED TO REFER TO THE SAME THING AS A FAUCET IN THE US IS TAP. BOTH WORDS DWEESCRIBE A DEVICE USED TO CONTROL THE FLOW OF WATER IN PLUMBING FIXTURES.
